CrossCountry runs Britain's longest through trains, from Aberdeen and Edinburgh via Newcastle, York, Birmingham and Bristol to Plymouth and Penzance. Arriva has held the contract since November 2007; it is scheduled to be the last operator taken into public ownership, expected in October 2027.

Its trains pass through several stretches covered on this site: the Northumberland coast, the Dawlish sea wall on the way to Plymouth, and the Cornish main line to Penzance. Voyager Class 220 and 221 diesel units and refurbished HST sets are used.

CrossCountry tickets are valid on GWR's Devon and Cornwall rangers on the relevant sections.
