Saphos Trains is the steam excursion brand of Locomotive Services Limited and operates from the group's depot at Crewe. It launched its first public trains in 2019 and has since built a programme of day trips across England, Wales and southern Scotland aimed at families and general travellers as well as enthusiasts.
Trains are formed of refurbished Mark 1 carriages hauled by locomotives from the Locomotive Services fleet, which includes 71000 Duke of Gloucester, 34046 Braunton, 70000 Britannia and 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley. Accommodation ranges from Standard and First Class to Premier Dining with meals served at your seat.
Regular named trains include The Fellsman over the Settle to Carlisle line, The Welsh Marches Express to Cardiff, The Lakelander and The Golden Arrow, with pick-ups typically in the Midlands, Cheshire and the North West.
