Statesman Rail was incorporated in January 2007 and is run from Hayle in Cornwall. It markets The Statesman, a rake of Pullman-style Mark 1 and Mark 2 carriages operated by Locomotive Services, and sells day and weekend tours with pick-ups at regional stations rather than the big city termini.
Four classes are normally available: Pullman Dining with regionally inspired multi-course menus, Premier First, First Class non-dining and Standard. Trains are usually diesel hauled, with steam on selected dates such as the Fellsman-branded Settle to Carlisle circulars.
The programme includes the Settle and Carlisle Circular in winter, Royal Windsor and Portsmouth Harbour day trips, the Dorset Coast Statesman, Cornish Riviera and Mazey Day, Snowdonia and William Shakespeare tours and a heavily booked run of Edinburgh Christmas Statesman trains.
