Operated by West Coast Railways on behalf of the Lune Rivers Trust, an environmental charity working in the Lune catchment, this annual steam special was formerly known as The Lune Habitat. In 2026 it runs from Carnforth, with pick-ups at Wennington and Bentham, across the edge of the Yorkshire Dales to York.
Passengers have around three hours in York for the Shambles, the city walls and the Minster before the steam-hauled return to Carnforth. Tickets and confirmed timings are sent seven days before travel, and the operator advises booking early because the train has been oversubscribed in past years.
Ingleborough and Giggleswick Scar are on the left across Craven; York Minster is on the right at the end.
Sides are given facing the direction of travel. Miles are approximate from the start of the journey.
