A steam-hauled Armistice Day circuit from London Victoria to Canterbury, returning along the Kent coast past the White Cliffs.

The Armistice Steam Express marks Armistice Day with a steam-hauled circular trip through Kent. It leaves London Victoria in the morning, calls at Bromley South, and runs through the Garden of England via Ashford International and Wye to Canterbury, where passengers have time for the cathedral, the Westgate Towers and the Goods Shed market.

The afternoon return runs via Deal and Dover Priory with views of the Channel and the White Cliffs, then inland through the Weald via Tonbridge and Sevenoaks to Victoria. The train pauses to remember the moment fighting ceased at 11 o'clock on 11 November 1918.

Before you book: charter trains depend on locomotive availability and Network Rail engineering work. Steam can be swapped for diesel at short notice, so check the operator’s terms for what happens then. When you book, ask for a seat on the side we recommend: most operators allocate seats but will note a preference.
