Midland Pullman festive day trips to Edinburgh's Christmas market from the South East, South Wales and the East Midlands.

The Midland Pullman's speed makes Edinburgh a day trip from much of England and Wales. Four festive departures are offered in 2026: from Watford Junction via Milton Keynes and Rugby, from Cardiff via Shrewsbury and Ludlow, from Bedford via Leicester and Derby, and from Potters Bar via Cambridge and Peterborough.

Each runs up the East or West Coast Main Line to give around three and a half hours in the capital for the market in Princes Street Gardens, the castle and the Royal Mile, returning the same evening.

Pullman Dining includes a champagne breakfast and multi-course dinner with wine; First Class includes tea, coffee and light refreshments. Several dates are already sold out.

Before you book: charter trains depend on locomotive availability and Network Rail engineering work. Steam can be swapped for diesel at short notice, so check the operator’s terms for what happens then. When you book, ask for a seat on the side we recommend: most operators allocate seats but will note a preference.
